Applications are invited for a one-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics, for the 2008-09 academic year. Candidates must have a doctorate in the mathematical sciences by August 2008, as well as some university-level teaching experience. Duties include teaching five semester courses (2+3) from calculus through upper-level undergraduate subjects. Research interests overlapping current faculty are desirable, but not required.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks is the primary research institution for the state, with undergraduate and graduate programs throughout the sciences and engineering. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics has 15 full-time faculty, MS and PhD programs, and a high level of research activity.
