Beat Beethoven 5K Running Club North, 5K. Saturday, 10 a.m. at UAF Patty Center. Does your heart beat faster when you hear Beethoven’s 5th Symphony? Then register for the Beat Beethoven 5K Run, celebrating its 11th year! Participants who finish the course around the UAF campus before the last note of the symphony will receive a voucher good for admission to any Fairbanks Symphony or Arctic Chamber Orchestra season concert. This fundraiser is fun for the whole family—runners, joggers, and walkers are all welcome. Hilly loop course on UAF campus roads. 22nd Annual Chena River Run Running Club North, 5K Wood River Elementary School to the Princess Hotel. Williams Cup Series event # 1. Mostly flat point-to-point course, through University West and over the Chena River bridge, on local roads, bike paths, & sidewalks . Bib pickup Saturday May 3, at Alaskaland, 10 a.m. Advance registration; Tentative Entry Fees - $10 thru 5/4; $15 thru 5/10; $20 Day Of Race. Midnight Sun Fun Run (Annual 10K run/walk) Beginning at 10 p.m., this race is run under the Midnight Sun (usually the third Saturday in June) starting at 10 p.m. at the University of Alaska, winding through residential areas, on a mostly flat course on local roads and bike paths and ending at Pioneer Park (Alaskaland). The 10K race draws thousands of runners, walkers and costume- wearers, and bills itself as the "farthest north 10K run". Bib pickup 6/9. Sponsored by Running Club North and the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, this is a Williams Cup Series event #2. (907) 452-7211. Boy Scouts of America 907-452-1976. 40th Annual Equinox Marathon 8 a.m., UAF Patty Center. 26.2 miles. This second hardest marathon in the U.S., attracts top runners from around the country. Also featuring a 3-person relay team option, it is a tough, hilly marathon and relay race that takes racers over wooded trails, sometimes through mud or snow. (907) 452-8351.
